Success Comes to Those Who Become Success Conscious!

I am going through the book “Think and Grow Rich” written by Napoleon Hill following a mandatory rule by our innovative office “Super Technologies Inc.” that asks each of its companion / employee to go through certain sets of books to be in accordance with office environment.

Going through these books proved to be a great blessing for me to know great secrets of success. We keep sharing quotes, we keep talking about success but we never ponder what success is and how to be successful.
Once I said, I want to be successful, somebody asked me "define success"? Do you know success? To this I would say success depends upon person to person and it changes its shapes at different stages of life.

For a New born, opening the eyes and taking breaths is a success to have life. A school student would consider it a success if getting top grades. Parents consider their children’s success their success. So basically success is an aim that we set for ourselves and then attainment of that very goal is called success. It keeps changing shapes and keeps coming because we keep making goals after goals.

Most of the people in the world think of getting rich. I would say, many secretly wish and does not express openly but always work for it or wish for it. “Think and Grow Rich” is an amazing book in this regards. It brings you to the reality of knowing the fact “Know what it is that you want.” It tells us the basic rules of what is required to be rich.

The goal is definite; that is to be rich. But what does it require to be rich, how, by what means, up to what time is all that YOU have to determine and decide.

One of the important points that the book reveals is to “make a definite purpose of your life and work on it with persistence.” Definiteness of the goal that you want to achieve is crucial to decide to have it. Until and unless you do not know what you want, how can you determine a path for yourself?
So clarity to yourself is a must and then it requires determination and persistence to achieve it.

Now opposite of success is failure, and why failure comes is also defined remarkably. Napoleon Hill defines failure as a “habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.” And almost every person has gone through this experience of quitting when one leaves due to discouragements. A beautiful example is present by him of uncle of R. U. Darby as “THREE FEET FROM GOLD”.

"An uncle of R.U. Darby was caught by the “gold fever” in the gold rush days, and went west to DIG AND GROW RICH” He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the brains of men then has ever been taken from the Earth. He stalked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel. The going was hard but his lust for gold was definite. After week of labor, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface.

Quietly he covered up the mine retraced his footsteps to the home Williams-burg. Maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbors of the strike. They got together the money needed for the machinery, had it shipped. The uncle and the Darby went back to work the mine.
The first car of ore was mined and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved that they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would have cleared the debts.

Down went the drills and up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle. Then something happened! The vein of gold ore disappeared! They had come to the end of the rain bow and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled on desperately trying to pick up the vein again all to no avail.

Finally they decided to QUIT. They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars and took the train back home. Some “junk” men are dumb but not this one! He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with the “fault lines”. His calculations showed that the vein would be found JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE DABYS HAD STOPPED DRILLING. That is exactly where it was found.

The “junk” man took millions of dollars from the same mine because he knew to take experts advise before quitting."

Napoleon Hill stresses that tricks of opportunity are often strange. It often comes from a backdoor, from a direction from where you least expect it to come. Sometimes apparent misfortunes are also an opportunity, but the mistake we often do is to never recognize it. The richness or success comes to those who believe in hard work consistently for a longer period of time.

What happens is that mostly mankind is familiar with the word “impossible”. The failure comes to those who think all the time of all the things that are not possible. They keep analyzing the rules that would become a reason of failure but they forget to ponder on the reasons of success. Due to this our brains become magnetized with our dominating thought and that dominating thought further attracts all the circumstances of life, people and experiences that harmonize with the thoughts.
Success comes to those who become success conscious and failure comes to those who become failure conscious.
